Welcome to the 10X Program
The 10X program is being implemented by Outbox (U), UNCDF, Refactory Academy, and WITU in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. Refactory Academy is working towards inclusively skilling over 9,400 and linking 6,300 young women for meaningful work in the digital economy. Refactory Academy in the 10X program is empowering young women with relevant tech skills and life-changing opportunities, equipping them to thrive in the digital economy as individuals and as business owners.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the 10X Program scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Must be female
Currently residing in Uganda
Priority are unemployed applicants
Must speak, comprehend, and write English
Applicants must demonstrate financial need
Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply
Must be available for fulltime participation in a 4 - 24 week training program

About the Program
What is the 10X Program?
The 10X Program is a fully funded digital skills training initiative implemented by Outbox and UNCDF, in collaboration with Refactory Academy and WITU, in partnership with Mastercard Foundation. It equips young women, including refugees and persons with disabilities, with practical digital skills and connects Youth into dignified work.
Is the 10X Program free?
Yes! Both application and training are completely free of charge.
What courses are offered under the 10X Program?
Courses include Web Development, Product Design, Product Management, Data Science, and more.
Is this an online or in-person program?
It’s a blended program, combining virtual sessions with some in-person engagement. Participants must have access to the internet and be available for virtual learning.
How long does the 10X Program take?
The courses last approximately 3- 6 months depending on the course you have applied for, including hands-on project work with real companies.
Eligibility
Who qualifies to apply for the 10X Program?
Young Women aged 18–35 who live in Uganda and can speak English.
Can I apply if I only completed Senior 4 (S.4)?
Yes. S.4 leavers are encouraged to apply.
Can I apply if I dropped out of university?
Yes. As long as you’re within the eligible age and meet other criteria, you qualify.
Can I apply if I completed university?
Absolutely. Graduates are welcome and will still benefit from the program’s practical learning approach.
Do I need prior experience in tech or digital skills to join?
No. The program is beginner-friendly and designed to support learners with at least basic digital literacy.
Do we do exams?
We do not offer exams on this program. Your understanding of the content delivered is assessed through practical applications in various ways.
Do Men qualify for the 10X Program Scholarship?
No, this program is only for young women 18-35 years.

How do I apply for the 10X Program Scholarship?
To apply:
- Go to refactory.academy/programs.
- Fill out the application form for the course you want.
- After submitting, click “Interested in Scholarship” and follow the steps.
Please note: First, apply for the course. Then, apply for the scholarship.
What happens after I apply?
You will receive communication via email regarding the next steps, including interviews, admission and whether or not you have qualified for the scholarship.All Communication will be via email, ensure you actively check your email regularly.

Is there a deadline for applying?

The program is intentionally inclusive and encourages applications from persons with disabilities. Reasonable accommodations will be made.
Are refugees eligible for the 10X Program?
Yes. Refugee women in Uganda are highly encouraged to apply.
